Most AI projects start in the wrong place

They start with a tool. Someone buys licenses, runs a training session, and waits for the productivity. What nobody has looked at is where the company’s data actually lives, who can reach it, and what happens when an AI tool is pointed at it. This assessment starts at the other end: your data, your systems, and the problems you’re actually trying to solve.

What's involved

How it works

Three short calls over a couple of weeks, led by our AI specialist and run entirely over video. A 15 minute kickoff, a 60 minute working session with whoever manages your data, and a 15 minute follow-up.

Under 90 minutes of your team's time, and you leave with a clear view of where you stand & how to move forward with AI.

What we look at

Where your data lives and who can reach it. Your core platform, whether that's Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. How the business actually operates day to day.

Then the problems you have with tech and data now, & where you think AI might solve them. If you're not sure yet, that's a useful answer too.

How it works

Three calls, under 90 minutes in total, and the assessment is free.

Kickoff

15 minutes

A short call to agree scope and work out who needs to be on the main session. Usually whoever manages your data or your IT.

Working session

60 minutes

The substance. Your core platform, where data sits, how the business runs, what’s not working, and where you think AI could help.

Findings

15 minutes

A high-level overview of what we found and what it means for your AI strategy. No obligation to go further.

What you walk away with

A high-level view of where your business stands: what needs protecting before AI goes anywhere near it, and where AI is most likely to be worth the effort.

Enough to decide what to do next, whether that’s with us or not.

If you want to go further

If what you hear is useful, we run follow-up sessions and produce the full detailed report: a complete strategy covering adoption, rollout and day-to-day use.

That part is a paid engagement, scoped once we know what we’re dealing with.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Three calls and a high-level overview, no obligation and nothing to sign. The detailed report and full strategy is a separate paid piece of work if you want it.

Who needs to be on the calls?

Whoever manages your data or your IT, internal or external. If you use an IT provider, we’re happy for them to join. We work alongside existing providers rather than around them.

We don’t know what we want AI to do yet. Is that a problem?

No, and it’s a common starting point. But if you also don’t know what your team is already using, start with our Shadow AI Assessment instead. Knowing what’s in use makes this conversation far more useful.

Does it matter whether we use Microsoft or Google? Mac or PC?

It changes the answers, not the assessment. All are fine. Knowing which one you’re on tells us a lot about where your data sits and what the realistic options are.

Do we need a policy first?

Not for this. But you’ll need one before you roll anything out, so grab our free AI acceptable use policy template while you’re here.
